If a single verse catches the essence of Noah’s character and the quality of his relationship with God, this is it. Even if we consider only a general overview of his lengthy life, this verse provides an extensive amount to ponder.

Word Defies World

Bible Reading: 2Thess.3:1-4

“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. And we have confidence in the Lord touching you that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.”

The greatest mistake we can do in our prayer is ignorant to how we should pray. Thousands of people are out there thinking that they are praying without knowing that they are playing instead of praying. The Bible says: “You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts.” James 4:3

Praying ignorantly simply means praying amiss or ask amiss. The word “amiss” means wrong or incorrect. Any prayer you offer without biblical principles of prayer means you pray wrongly or incorrectly.

In our Bible Reading for today, Apostle Paul specifically wrote the Christians in Thessalonica to pray for them that they may be used to spread the gospel message, while at the same time be delivered from the persecuting hands of wicked men. The wicked men in the passage are the unbeliever who has no consideration for things that pertain to God. These are those who are antagonistic to the preaching of the gospel. (vs 2; see Rm 15:31).

Paul did not say we should pray for them to die, but for God to deliver them from their hands. Pray for them to die is NOT the right prayer, but pray that God should deliver us from their evil plan or satanic purpose for our marriage, business, work, studies, finances, ministry, family, churches, gospel, etc are the right and acceptable prayer.

Mind you, the world we are is a world of antagonistic Humans  – they are always there and ready to attack and frustrating you is their Hobby. They are doing these just to stop you from being fulfilled in your destiny and purpose in life.

If God can open your spiritual eyes, you will discover that there are thousands of wicked men around you. However, they cannot overcome you because the presence of God is with you. Let us look at an incident in the Bible:

“And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! How shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” 2Kings 6:15-17

The enemies in thousands surrounding a city with horses and chariots just like our world today that full of bombs, guns, etc. They target to kill and destroy the city, but God is already assigned and placed many horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha and his servant.

Beloved, God will never leave or abandon His children for the enemies to destroy them. You are the one not to fear! As Elisha told his servant, so also I’m telling you now that “FEAR NOT”! The ONE that is with you is more and greater and power than those against you.

Let us see the next step that the Elisha takes:

“And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. And Elisha said unto them, this is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria. And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.” 2Kings 6:18-20

What happened in the above incident is the deliverance from the wicked men. God delivered Elisha and his servant from the evil people without killing them. Even, there blindness is for a while! Mind you, today is your day of freedom from the pity of hell to the palace of God in heaven.

Prayer Bombs:

1. O LORD, begin to disgrace every high thing that set itself against your plan and purpose for my ministry and life in Jesus.

2. O LORD, by all the power for which you are known to be God, arise and fight the battle for my marital destiny in Jesus’ name.

3. O LORD, let every enchantment, divination, and witchcraft prepared for my family, ministry, business and marriage be rendered null and void by the power in the blood of Jesus.

4. Every satanic horseman at the gate of my breakthrough and upliftments be overthrown by fire in the name of Jesus.

5. Every forces and powers of wickedness assigned to monitoring my life, marriage, ministry, success, academic, business and work, receive spiritual paralysis in the name of Jesus.

6. O LORD, let your armies move through the length and breadth of the land at the midnight hour to uproot the work, plan and purpose of the wicked from the land in Jesus’ name. 7. Father, let the sword of the wicked turn and work against them in Jesus’ name.

8. Every satanic altar supplying strength and power to the wicked, receive destruction by fire in the name of Jesus.

9. I decree uncommon freedom and double restoration of my glory in Jesus’ name.

10. Let every foundational conspiracy against my destiny, ministry and marriage be broken to pieces in Jesus’ name.

Question: “What is the sword of the Spirit?”

Answer: The phrase “sword of the Spirit” is found only once in Scripture, in Ephesians 6:17. The sword is one of the pieces of spiritual armor Paul tells the Ephesian Christians to put on as part of the “full armor of God” that will enable us to stand our ground against evil (Ephesians 6:13).

The sword is both an offensive and defensive weapon used by soldiers or warriors. In this case it is a weapon belonging to the Holy Spirit. Swords were used to protect oneself from harm or to attack the enemy to overcome or kill him. In both cases it was necessary for a soldier to get rigid training on the proper use of the sword to get maximum protection. All Christian soldiers need the same rigid training to know how to properly handle the Sword of the Spirit, “which is the word of God.” The sword that Paul refers to here is the Holy Scriptures. We know from 2 Timothy 3:16–17 that the word of God is from the Holy Spirit and written by men. Since every Christian is on the spiritual battle with the satanic and evil forces of this world, we need to know how to handle the Word properly. Only then will it be an effective defense against evil, but it will also be an offensive weapon we use to “demolish strongholds” of error and falsehood (2 Corinthians 10:4–5).

God refers to His Word as a sword in Hebrews 4:12. Here the Word is described as living and active and sharper than a double-edged sword. The Roman sword was commonly made in this manner. The fact that it had two edges made it easier to penetrate, as well as to cut in every way. The idea is that of piercing, or penetrating; the Word of God reaches the “heart,” the very center of action, and lays open the motives and feelings of those it touches.

The purpose of the sword of the Spirit—the Bible—is to make us strong and able to withstand the evil onslaughts of Satan, our enemy (Psalm 119:1133–4099–105). The Holy Spirit uses the power of the Word to save souls and then to give them spiritual strength to be mature soldiers for the Lord in fighting this corrupt and evil world we live in. The more we know and understand the Word of God, the more useful we will be in doing the will of God and the more effective we will be in standing against the enemy of our souls.

What does the Bible actually tell us about Satan?
Who is Satan?

Who is Satan?

Satan is a horrible creature. He is repulsive to look at, horns, tail, pitchfork etc. This is the picture of Satan that we are most familiar with. If we actually look into what the Bible says about him, we see that nothing could be further from the truth.

In fact this is a very dangerous misrepresentation. In Ezekiel 28:12-19 we have a true picture of Satan. “You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty . . . You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you . . . you were perfect in your ways from the day you were created.”

This sounds nothing like the typical image of Satan that many people have. He was in fact an anointed cherub. He sat in heaven, a being of the highest rank and exalted position. Created by God as the “seal of perfection.”

Satan’s fall

But Satan turned his eyes away from his Creator and began to admire the creation; himself. “You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor.” (Ezekiel 28:17) He became proud and exalted himself; a desire to rule was born in him. He wished to put himself in God’s place. He whispered lies until he had a third of the hosts of heaven on his side.

“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation … I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’” Isaiah 14:12-15.

The problem began with this “I will”. Satan turned from hearing God’s voice and began to seek his own will. To put another will over God’s is to say that His will is not perfect. When Satan said, “I will”, sinSin is anything that goes against God’s will and His laws. To commit sin is to transgress or disobey these laws. The lust to sin dwells in human nature. In other words, it is contaminated and motivated by the sinful tendencies that dwell in all people as a result of the fall into sin and disobedience in the garden of Eden. This… More began. (What is sin?) God calls Himself by name, saying, “I AM.” (Exodus 3:14) He does not give this name to anyone else. The one who wants to be something in himself is therefore in conflict with God, and is expelled.

“And warAlmost all talk of battles and wars when concerning a Christian life refers to the inner battle that arises when a sinful thought tempts you. God’s Spirit and the flesh are at odds. When you have decided to only do God’s will and are being led by the Spirit, a conflict between the flesh and the Spirit arises: there is… More broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” Revelation 12:7-9.

Satan as the ruler of this world

So Satan was cast out of heaven, and now God’s absolute goodness, wisdom, and love must never be brought into question again. It must be proved that God’s will is the only good and perfect way. So Satan received dominion over this world, and his purpose is to set himself as the god of this earth. The world is not under the direct control of God, but of Satan, who received practically a free hand to do as he pleases. Jesus calls Satan, “the ruler of this world.” John 12:31. The Apostle Paul calls him “the god of this age.” 2 Corinthians 4:4. This is God’s plan to provide full proof of the deceitfulness of sin. It must be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Satan’s way will only lead to death and destruction.

Most of the world is not aware of the fact that they are “under the sway of the wicked one.” 1 John 5:19. He uses their inherent pride to occupy them with themselves and their greatness, and this has affected every aspect of humanity. His goal is for mankind to be so sure of their human abilities that it precludes all need for God. He is not interested in making the world evil, only in bringing everyone under his sway. He still whispers his lies into every ear, sowing pride and doubt, just as he did while he was in heaven.

Opponents of Satan

Yet, God keeps stretching out His hand and preventing Satan from carrying out his plans completely. He sent Jesus to open up another way for mankind to follow. Throughout the earth there are those who have given up their own will to follow their Saviour and who believe in God’s perfect will. Together these faithful souls form the ChurchMany people use the word to denote the entire body of Christians, and others to describe a certain denomination or group or even the physical building that Christians gather in. The Bible makes it clear that the true church of Christ is made up of all those who deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him. (Ephesians 2:19-22; Matthew… More of God. This group is the thorn in Satan’s side. He works to bring doubt, pride, division, or whatever he can to turn people’s hearts from God.

You can illuminate the world!

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8. He is searching furiously, he wants complete control over this earth, and he will attack wherever he can to bring his plan to fruition. But for all those with a heart for God, it is possible to resist him.

“Finally, my brethrenThe “brothers” and “sisters” are those who are a part of the church of Christ. (Matthew 23:8; Matthew 12:50; Hebrews 2:10-18)… More, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might … Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:10-17.

Because of this power that is available, there are those throughout the world who stand against Satan’s deceit, overcome sin, and shine as a light in this dark and evil world. These are the ones who are proving by their faithfulness that God’s way is perfect, while the rest of mankind proves that Satan’s way, this proud “I will”, only leads to destruction. When this world has passed away, it will be God’s will that stands for all eternity. Satan, the great deceiver, will finally be thrown into the lake of fire for ever and ever. (Revelation 20:10)
