Congratulations to President- Elect Mohammadu Buhari and Vice President-Elect Yemi Osinbajo. In the words of Jesus Christ, You cannot have power, except it were given to you from above.

Psalms 75:6-7
For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

As you contemplate this political power given you by God through the voice of the people, may I share a few words of advice as a patriotic citizen of this blessed nation.

1) THE FOUNDATION FOR BUILDING A VIABLE NATION IS TO DEFINE, ESTABLISH AND SOLIDIFY A CULTURE OF JUST AND RIGHT VALUES, WITHOUT WHICH ALL OTHER INFRASTRUCTURE WILL BE ERECTED ON SINKING SAND.
(The legislation and supremacy of just laws must be implemented fiercely; the inculcation of a national culture of discipline, hard work, honesty, respecting the rule of law and order, patriotism, etc)

I suggest you Undertake a National Values Assessment, so as to Implement a robust Culture change program that will redefine our National Cultural psyche and behavior as a nation.

Employing novel Cultural Intervention and Transformation tools, can enable us to identify, map and modify the values of individuals, organizations, communities and the nation as a whole.

The successful implementation of such an effort can see the setting up of a national rating standard such as a “citizens personal accountability index”, which will be deployed to promote the cultural evolution Nigerian so desperately needs.

Each citizen should be well enlightened about the new Nigerian ethics and values, and rigorously rated and judged through our every transaction with the society. A citizen with a high personal accountability value should enjoy certain incentives, whilst those who refuse to participate in the new Nigerian culture, should be denied certain privileges.

Proverbs 14:34
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Undoubtedly, successful nations are nations that support their citizens in meeting their basic needs, whilst gives everyone opportunities to fulfill their potential by supporting their growth needs. This cannot be achieved if our national values culture and index is at an extremely negative and low position, as it presently is.

Your campaign has largely been fueled on the thrust of anti-corruption, therefore as you embark on this turbulent endeavor, give serious and highest consideration to culture change intervention proposals such as this.

2) Implement creative de-tribalisation interventions, wider, broader and deeper than the old unity schools and NYSC and implement legislation/interventions which consolidate the secularization of the federal republic of Nigeria so as to regulate our multi-religious diversities.

Amos 3:3
Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

3) LEAD BY EXAMPLE. Consider a few quotes.

“Setting an example is not the main means of influencing others, it is the only means.” — Albert Einstein

“Officers eat last”, but it is the foundation of every Officer Corps in history — Unknown

“What you are speaks so loudly, I can’t hear what you’re saying.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Not the cry, but the flight, of a wild duck leads the flock to fly and follow.” — Chinese proverb

A) Don’t ask others to do what you can’t, or won’t. Do not demand any sacrifice from Nigerians that you, your cabinet and our political class are not ready to offer. If Nigerians are not to drive on the wrong lane, any serving official who drives on the wrong lane should be punished as an example.

Ensure that you and every public servant declares your assets and verify your income to be legitimate before being allowed to serve.

1 Peter 5:3
Not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.

B) To be a great leader, you have to be a great follower. Always remember that you are a servant or a follower of the people. You are the CEO of a democratic nation in which the citizenry is the Chairman of the Board.

Beware of surrounding yourself with sycophants who will deprive you of feeling the real pulse of the citizenry. If possible establish an independent organ such as a radio/online channel which you directly supervise, by which your bosses, “the citizens” can share their true feeling, ratings and expectations with you.

4) CORRECT THE ENTRENCHED INJUSTICES OF THE NIGERIA ENTITY.
Be sincere and proactive about correcting the real, clear and present danger that injustices held by sections can portend. Do not throw away the recommendations of the recent national conference but implement it. Be fair to all Nigerians.

5) LET THE FEAR OF GOD ALWAYS INFLUENCE EVERY ACTION OF YOURS.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

May God bless you and use your era to build a new Nigeria. May God bless the federal republic of Nigeria.
