FAVORWhy do some believers seem to have the favor of God, while other suffer? Julie shares.

“Then Peter began to speak: ‘I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism’” (Acts 10:34).

Just before I started getting sick my life was going better than it ever had up until that time. It was so easy to praise God daily for all the blessings in my life! But then my illness came, and life took a 180-degree turn. My attitude changed.

It seemed a dark cloud was hovering over my head. The praising became harder, and all I could do was wonder what I had done against God to bring this on myself. I noticed other Christians whom God seemed to favor.

Their “trials” consisted of things like their son not getting into the college of his choice, or a house not selling immediately.

I definitely did not feel as though God loved me as much has He loved other Christians.

We usually associate love with a warm and fuzzy feeling. But how many times have you seen that kind of love fail? How many times has it been fleeting and deceptive?

God so loved you that He gave His only begotten Son to die for you. He would do it for you and you alone. Is there any stronger or greater love that that?

1 John 3:1 reads, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!”

During the times when we are sick and hurting, we cannot rely on our emotional feelings that tell us God doesn’t love us. We have to rely on what He tells us in His Word and claim it. The fact is that God says over and over again in the Bible how much He loves us.

Can you trust your feelings? No. Can you trust God’s Word? Absolutely!

Prayer: Lord God, I admit there are times when I do not feel Your love as strongly as I should. Help me to know without a doubt the depth of Your love for me and overcome any misleading emotions I may have. Amen.

Do you ever have days when it seems God is favoring other Christians over you? What verses can you find of God’s great love for you?

This is Hawk Nelson singing the song “Drops in the Ocean.” In it the lyrics share how much God loves us and how He is not (and never will be) against us. I hope it reminds you of the truth about how God does love us. Everything else is just our emotions talking. Hugs. -Lisa
