Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Interpretation: This message holds immense power because it is so direct. It is spoken in absolutes with no room for doubt. There is no clearer statement of His intent to walk beside us, through glory and struggle. If we put our faith in Him, we will find the support that we need.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Interpretation: It is only in acknowledging where we are lacking that we can improve and strengthen those aspects of ourselves. The man who claims to know all can never learn any more than he already has. Human beings are only perfect in their imperfection, and it is in embracing our flaws that we find the beauty in our humanity. By embracing our weaknesses, we open ourselves up for Him to fill us with His grace and strength.

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Interpretation: Courage is stepping forward into the unknown without the knowledge or guarantee of something better. This is where faith steps in and fills that gap. This verse acts as a reminder that the Lord serves as that faith if place your faith in him and muster the courage and strength to walk forward into the unknown. We must put ourselves in a position to receive his support and not be under the misconception that it will arrive on its own when we are at a standstill.

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Interpretation: Faith and the patience for the Lord to do his work is the key here. We must acknowledge what can only be done by Him and then trust that it will all be delivered at the appropriate time and place. In the meantime, we continue to do our part and identify how to best position ourselves to receive his strength and grace.

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. Interpretation: Lifting one’s eyes has the implication of desire or longing, whereas the hills and mountains refer to the heavens where the Lord resides. His watchful eye will shield us always and forever and “will neither slumber nor sleep,” so that our feet may never slip and cause us to fall off the path. In ancient times, a soldier would carry a shield in his left hand while the right side was exposed. The Lord serves as protection for the right and acts as the “shade on your right hand,” protecting us from all harm whether it be the sun or the moon that is in the sky, throughout the entirety of your life.

The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Interpretation: This is a reminder that you will find wholeness by resting in your faith and worship of Him. Whatever we are lacking, the Lord will supply and fill that need.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? Interpretation: We are reminded that God has already made sacrifices for us and that, even his own Son who died for us, is interceding on our behalf and remains steadfast in His support of us. How can we doubt Him after such a gesture? We must not let our humanly struggles separate us from the Lord when He has already done so much for us.

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.

Interpretation: Throughout our lives, we’ll come across numerous struggles and difficulties, but the choice to ask for help ultimately lies with us. Some find it shameful or disgraceful to admit that they need help when the ability to identify and remedy this need is actually a sign of strength and intelligence. If we reach out to the Lord, He will answer our call in a way or form that He deems appropriate and suitable. We are his constituents, his bones, and he will not let us break.

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Interpretation: God, in his abundance, will provide our every need, but only in accordance with what he deems is necessary for us, as opposed to what we want with our humanly desires.

Interpretation: Another great direct message that is straight to the point. He speaks directly to us in this verse, and makes his command very clear. We must muster the courage and do as commanded.

Interpretation: Quick reminder to always return to the Lord.

Interpretation: Our time on this Earth is finite, and even when our bodies and health fail, it does not mean that God has abandoned us. We should view the Lord as our “portion,”, which can be understood as our source of happiness and fulfillment, forever, in this life and the next, and in whatever form our spirit and souls take.

Interpretation: In any and all times of struggle, we can find strength in Him. Call and he shall answer in the way He deems most appropriate.

Interpretation: Only those who acknowledge their weaknesses and what they lack can receive the corresponding strength from the Lord. He will make us whole in the ways that are most needed.
